Leafs fans anxiously waiting for Marner Decision

Mitch Marner has yet to make his decisions on where he will play next season

Mitch Marner is a restricted free agent this summer by the Toronto Maple Leafs but he has still yet to make his decision. Many people want Marner to take a hometown discount but Marner may have a different opinion. One of the main reason that I speculate that Marner and the Leafs cannot make a deal is because of all of the big money signings being made around the league. for example, Artemi Panarin signed to the New York Rangers for upwards of 11.5 Million over 7 years. Panarin has scored an average of 80 points per season with a career high of 87 points. Marner can definitely argue that he deserves just as much as this level of superstar in the NHL after proving that he can play multiple 82 game seasons putting up 60+ points in each of 3 seasons in the league. That makes up an average of 74.67 points a season and last year Marner had a career high of 96 points. As you can see from these statistics, Marner has a good argument that he should definitely be making between 11 and 12 million dollars a year. In my opinion, I would love to see Marner back in a Leafs uniform but I can see why he is holding out. Every player wants to get what they feel they deserve but at the same time I think Marner really wants to stay in Toronto so that is where the delay is coming from.

Should Mitch Marner take a hometown discount?
